A Journey to a Distinct Destination - Flex Those Literary Muscles

Life:
The Distinct Wild Card

Every now and then I ask myself what route am I going to take to get where I want to go. Sometimes I take the shortcut, other times I take the scenic route (only because I like the view). Yet no matter the road I take, I still arrive at my destination. That goes to prove that old saying really is true. Yea you know the one. That little annoying saying that is usually the punch line in movies that Hollywood puts out to meet the end of the fiscal year with a positive trend:
"It's not about the destination, it's about the journey"
Guess what? I call bullshit. Yea, Bullshit

Here's the thing, the "journey" is indeed a very important aspect of a persons life, but the notion that it's more important than the destination is just not true. Think about this for a second. Why are you on that "journey" in the first place? Exactly, because of the destination. What can "journey" teach you? Well, it can teach you lots of things like patience, love, courage and maybe just maybe it can even teach you common sense (which if God did his job during creation, which I believe he did, you should have from the get go, but I digress).

The "journey" teaches you all the amazing things that no school teacher, mentor or pastor can teach you. But would all those things mean anything if there was no reward at the end? No special treat to make you feel accomplished? Hell, even your pet needs a doggie treat at the end of a trick for him to actually learn anything. Think about it. You can make him/her lay all day long, sit all night and catch the ball all week, but if there's no doggie treat at the end, good luck on getting him/her to do it again.

Now how about this crazy idea called cause and effect. Is the "journey" the cause or is it the effect? How about the destination, would it be the cause or would it be the effect?

My answer to this mysterious question that I pose which was just pulled out of a body part of mine that is whiter than Steve Harvey's teeth (guess which body part) is this. The "journey" is the effect. Why? Well... The "journey" you embark on is the effect of you wanting to reach your destination which is the cause.

Now, by no means is this an attack towards the journeys we all take. They are a necessity for personal growth, change and happiness. In fact, I hate it when things come easy. I need to experience pain, failure and loss throughout my journey so that when I reach my destination I actually feel like I deserve to be there.

Many things come easy nowadays.

The internet for example is open, free and accessible to anyone who just so happens to live in a free country. You have questions? Well, just open an internet browser, type it in to any major search engine and voila. You get my drift.

So here it is.

Sometimes when things get rough throughout the journey we tend to forget why we were on it to begin with. Human beings are beautiful, incredible and intelligent creatures which tend to have horrible memories. So when the going gets tough the reality is some of us start to cry and complain instead of having the tough in us get going. When that happens just remember about the reason your on that journey. Exactly! This is Awesome! You've actually learned something from reading a blog (go figure). But for those of you that didn't get it or for the ones who decided to pass this over as another self help technique that tries to teach you how to live your life then here it is, spelled out just for you:

T H E  D E S T I N A T I O N (CHECK MY SPELLING FOR ME WILL YA)

Yes, you ARE INDEED very welcome.
